Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel shot back at one of his biggest detractors on Friday with a little humor, and hopefully making a certain someone rethink their peculiar choice of attire.
ESPN’s Merrill Hoge has been a huge critic of Manziel, who gets his first NFL start Sunday, for some time now, so it was only natural for someone to bring it up.
“I think Merril Hoge needs to worry about his big neckties,” Manziel told Jeff Schudel of the News-Herald in Willoughby, Ohio.
“Talking about Merril, he’s been that way since I decided to come out for the draft,” he explained. “That’s really part of it. But no, no extra motivation or bump for me. It’s just go out and play and quiet him with the way we go out and win on Sundays. That’s what we want to do.”
