Since his LSU days, Jarvis Landry has always been overlooked. A guy by the name of Odell Beckham Jr. was always considered to be the superior wide receiver, and now he is a star in the making as a go-to player for the New York Giants. Landry might not ever catch up to him, but there is no denying that he has his own talent. The second year player will be looking to really break out in a changed up system in Miami.
The Miami Dolphins view 2015 as a make or break season, so they are going to be looking to go with the best talent right away. Miami no longer has Mike Wallace or Brian Hartline, so opportunities are going to be there for people to shoot up in fantasy football rankings 2015. Landry is looking to be more than just a slot receiver.
Right now, Ryan Tannehill is looking at DeVante Parker, Greg Jennings and Kenny Stills as the three receivers competing with Landry for playing time. He might not have a ton of experience, but he really stepped up in the second half of 2014. He caught at least five passes in the second half of the year.
For Landry to take the leap, it really comes down to making the most of his touches. Even though he caught more passes in the second half of last season, he was not really able to have huge yardage. He’s not the biggest receiver out there, so he will never be a huge red zone target. However, his touchdown numbers should go up in 2015 simply because he’ll get more targets.
Miami is thinking playoffs, and they aren’t going to get there without quality production at the wide receiver position. Some might think Parker has more potential, but Landry is ready to contribute right now. Those looking at fantasy football rankings 2015 will notice that he is getting a bit overlooked, but that is certainly nothing new for him. A big year could be awaiting the second year player.
