Looks like cooler heads are prevailing in the wake of the NFL’s heavy-handed #Deflategate punishments levied against the New England Patriots.
According to the ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pats owner Robert Kraft and commissioner Roger Goodell talked at length during a birthday party while both are attending the NFL’s spring owners meetings.
“Roger Goodell and Patriots owner Robert Kraft already have met, spoke and even hugged, per an industry source who witnessed it,” Schefter reported Tuesday morning.
“Goodell-Kraft attended Sean McManus’ 60th birthday Sat in NYC; they were spotted ‘on a couch, talking by themselves for quite a long time,” Schefter added.
Too bad we don’t have any details on exactly what went down between the two that would sooth Kraft’s anger at being fined $1 million, docked two draft picks and forced to start backup Jimmy Garoppolo for the first four games of the season.
Could a compromise in punishment or dare I say, no punishment at all be on the horizon?
