The Seattle Seahawks, still in a giddy mood after capitalizing on the Green Bay Packers’ epic collapse on Sunday, went a little overboard on Twitter to celebrate Martin Luther King day by somehow equating their big win with the work of Dr. King.
The tweet showed a photo of a teary Russell Wilson along with a “We shall overcome” tagline and a quote from the late civil rights leader.
Soon after the dumb move, the team apologized for their “poor judgement.”
We apologize for poor judgment shown in a tweet sent earlier. We did not intend to compare football to the civil rights legacy of Dr. King.
