Curt Schilling: Kept out of Hall of Fame because I’m a Republican

Former MLB pitcher and GOP crackpot Curt Schilling is casually crying foul over writers ignoring him in favor of fellow pitcher John Smoltz due to his Curt’s well-known political affiliation.

We’ll stop the ridiculous argument right here, because as Masslive points out, Smoltzy actually leans red as well – in fact, he’s ‘campaigned for numerous Republican political candidates. And according to FEC records, he donated $9800 to Republican campaigns.’

But we’ll post what Schilling had to say to his fellow right-wingers, WEEI’s Dennis & Callahan on Wednesday anyway:

“I think he got in because of [Greg] Maddux and [Tom] Glavine. I think the fact that they won 14 straight pennants. I think his ‘Swiss army knife versatility,’ which somebody said yesterday, I think he got a lot of accolades for that, I think he got a lot of recognition for that. He’s a Hall of Famer,” Schilling said. “And I think the other big thing is that I think he’s a Democrat and so I know that, as a Republican, that there’s some people that really don’t like that.”
