It was revealed Monday that prosecutors preparing for the murder trial of Aaron Hernandez, accused of killing Odin Lloyd in July 2013, have included New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft, head coach Bill Belichick and former Pats LB Brandon Spikes (now with the Bills) as possible witnesses for the prosecution.
In a motion filed by the defense, they asked the judge to order the prosecution to pare it’s witness list down, which currently is a whopping 305 people, contending that it’s “inconceivable” they can call all 300+ witnesses tot he stand.
‘Judge E. Susan Garsh denied the motion, but she urged the parties to pare the list “to the extent practical to avoid an unnecessarily protracted trial,” ‘ per the Associated Press, via ESPN.
After Hernandez’s arrest, both Belichick and Kraft were interviewed by police. Patriots attorneys also handed over 34 text message between Hernandez and Belichick.
Other witnesses on the list are Hernandez’s mother, Terri Hernandez and his fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins. The trial is scheduled to begin in January, with jury selection to start on Jan. 9th.
