WWE sorry for disrespecting the Russian flag

bigshowProfessional wrestling has always played the ethnic card with many wrestlers taking on evil characters from various parts of the world, whether it’s Russia, Iran, Japan… you name it.

The sport’s newest villain, Rusev, is from Russia of course, and he’s not a big fan of the United States (yawn), as he and his partner Lana take the opportunity to dump on Americans and praise Vladimir Putin often.

Per USA TODAY Sports: ‘Rusev didn’t wrestle on Monday Night Raw yesterday, but he still took the ring to call out The Big Show. After Rusev’s signature giant Russian flag was unfurled over the ring, The Big Show came out to respond, and when Rusev ran away, Big Show ripped down the flag.’

Apparently, the powers that be in the WWE thought this was ok in this overly-sensitive politically correct world we live in.

On Tuesday, WWE issued this short apology:

“We at WWE would like to apologize to the Russian people for the incident on Monday Night Raw that could have been construed as disrespect for their nation’s flag.”
