The NFL Network’s Michael Robinson is thinking probably what most of us are thinking. As the New York Jets may end the day at 1-5, head coach Rex Ryan likely won’t last another season in New York.
Ryan is known for his defensive prowess and would probably be a hot choice on the market for such a position in 2015, but his chosen QB to start off the 2014 season, Geno Smith, is likely to spend the rest of his NFL career traveling the lonely backup/journeyman road…
“I don’t know if Geno Smith gets another job in the NFL,” the former Seahawks captain said, via NFL.com. “I think Rex Ryan does.”
Rex’s job appears safe for now, as is GM John Idzik, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, but that can change in a heartbeat. The Jets face Denver on Sunday, then it’s the New England Patriots.
A 1-6 record to start off the season certainly may have management thinking about a mid-season move.
