Boy, it’s been a rough few weeks for Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker. First you receive your third concussion of the calendar year in offseason action, now it’s revealed the reason for your odd behavior at the Kentucky Derby, when you were seen handing out your winnings to complete strangers, was due to popping Molly.
Molly, also known as MDMA, apparently wasn’t the only drug in Welker’s system. According to the reports, Welker’s Molly was mixed with amphetamines, another substance banned by the NFL.
Welker’s positive test happened soon after the Kentucky Derby and he filed an appeal that was denied two weeks ago. In the appeal he blamed the test results on a tainted sample, according to the NFL Network’s Albert Breer.
He was notified of the decision yesterday, and is “as shocked as everyone” at the decision to suspend him. Yawn…
“I want to make one thing abundantly clear: I would NEVER knowingly take a substance to gain a competitive advantage in any way,” An email from Welker said. “Anyone who has ever played a down with me, lifted a weight with me, even eaten a meal with me, knows that I focus purely on what I put in my body and on the hard work I put in year round to perform at the highest levels year-in and year-out.”
Not sure why he needed to add that statement, as I’m kinda doubting Molly’s ever been taken to gain a competitive advantage on the field.
He forgot to end it with ‘I took Molly to get high and have fun at the Kentucky Derby!’
