Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher had about enough of DB Jalen Ramsey’s hard hits on Sunday, including knocking quarterback Jameis Winston to the ground during the team’s open to the public practice.
It was the final straw for Fisher, who screamed at Ramsey as he headed to the locker room.
“It ain’t typical. It’s not what we’re going to do,” Fisher said, via Natalie Pierre, USA TODAY Sports. “He was told not to do something and he defied me. So we’ll judge from there. And I’m very upset with him. It’s lack of leadership. It’s lack of character… He’ll decide if he wants to play at Florida State.”
“They’re gonna do things my way,” Fisher added, “or they ain’t gonna play here.”
It’s certainly a powerful message sent by Fisher, kicking one your best players out of practice. Ramsey, a sophomore, started all 14 games in last year’s undefeated championship season and earned multiple freshman All-American honors.
