The viral video showing Tony Hawk in a demonstration of an awesome new hoverboard, the “HUVr” hit the internet by storm.
Too bad it was fake as sh*t.
For his part, Hawk is apologizing to those who actually thought it was a real product. I know at least one 10-year-old that requested one for his birthday rather than the previously agreed-upon Xbox One.
“I wanted to believe it as much as you did,” Hawk said, via USA TODAY Sports. “But to me it was just a fun opportunity to ride a DeLorean with Doc and to actually ride on the stunt harness they used back in Back to the Future II.”
“So I’m sorry for misleading everyone again,” he added. “And I wish as much as you do that hoverboards were real and I’m sure that one day they will be. But until then, we still need roads.”
