Philadelphia Police are saying oops, our bad after it was learned that instead of upwards of $200,000 reportedly stolen from the home of now former Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson, the amount is actually around $20,000.
The police aren’t to blame for the most part, as it was Jackson’s mother who told police she believed her son typically had as much as $200,000 and three handguns in the safe that was burglarized, reports Michael Newall of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
“This was a genuine mistake on our part,” Lt. John Stanford, a department spokesman said. “His mother was giving police what she thought was in the home. Once, they interviewed Jackson, he knows what’s in his house, and he said, ‘No, that’s wrong.’ He told them what was missing.”
