Did bumbling Browns tip their hand on free agency targets?

One picture says it all, and that picture says that no matter who’s working in the front office for the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Browns are still the Cleveland Browns.

On Wednesday, new Browns general manager Ray Farmer held a press conference to announce the signings of three free agents, with a whiteboard behind him clearly showing a list of free agents and their current/previous teams.

We see the Bengals’ RFA Andrew Hawkins, Julian Edelman and Darrelle Revis, as well as Alterraun Verner’s name crossed out due to his signing with the Buccaneers… and apparently Rex Grossman is thought to be a viable backup for the future.

That alone is embarrassing.

Per PFT, the Browns have a good (cough) explanation:

A Browns spokesman told PFT that the list is maintained by employees of the team website’s video department. Based only on external reporting and speculation and not on actual information from the football operations, the employees keep a list of players for whom video needs to be ready in the event a visit or a signing with the Browns occurs.
