Brandon Spikes calls out Patriots for playing fast and loose with injuries

Former New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes is now a Buffalo Bill, and like cornerback Aqib Talib, he taking shots at the Patriots organization after leaving town.

Talib, for his part, said recently that the Pats basically made up his hip injury when all he had was a quad injury. “The Patriots have their way of reporting stuff, but I haven’t had a hip problem since Tampa,” Talib said Wednesday.

Now Spikes is following suit and blasting head coach Bill Belichick, et al, for using a phantom injury to place him on IR in January, just before the playoffs.

“I heard they put me on IR and stuff like that. That was just a false report,” Spikes said Monday on WGR in Buffalo (via ESPN). “That’s just how things go there. Almost like what happened with Talib and his hip.”

“That was just from the labor throughout the season, man. It was just — you know how it is — it’s a tough 16 games. All I needed was rest and rehab.”
