Dolphins’ Jonathan Martin left team due to lunch room prank, bullying

20120322_jel_aw4_220_extra_large_mediumMiami Dolphins offensive tackle Jonathan Martin has apparently left the team after a reported lunch room prank that went awry set him off over the edge.

Martin, in his second year out of Stanford, is currently seeking treatment for emotional issues, according to the Miami Herald.

The details of the alleged prank have not been revealed, except that Martin bolted from the lunch room and hasn’t been seen since.

The Herald also reported that Martin was the frequent target of jokes and pranks by teammates.

Per the NY Daily News:
‘The Dolphins listed Martin as doubtful on this week’s injury report. “Jonathan Martin’s status was addressed on the injury report as an illness,”  the newspaper reported.

Martin is spending time with his family, according to a player who spoke with the lineman since Monday’s incident. After a promising start, the Dolphins have lost four straight games.”Obviously frustrated,” QB Ryan Tannehill said of the losing streak via the Dolphins’ official Twitter account, “obviously want to get this back on track.”

That might be a difficult task as the Herald article portrays a team in  disarray.’
