Looks like fan violence is here to stay at Candlestick Park. After measures were taking to curb the many fights breaking out in and around the stadium, Sunday erupted with even more.
We’re sure the 49ers getting their hats handed to them by the Indianapolis Colts didn’t help, but c’mon, can’t we all just get along?
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that a 29-year-old man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of beating a 15-year-old boy for urinating in the man’s car, and season ticket holder Daisy Barringer claims she was kicked and punched by another 49ers fan after saying something to a Colts fan who had bumped into her.
“He didn’t even hear me, but this female Niners fan that was behind me and saw it and heard it and for no reason started laughing, ran toward me and shoulder-checked me really hard,” Barringer said. “Just out of instinct, I pushed her off of me. She just went ballistic and started kicking me.”
The stadium stepped up security two years ago after two shootings and numerous fights broke out during a preseason game with the Oakland Raiders.
“There’s so much violence — it’s Niners fans on Niners fans, women assaulting women,” Barringer said. “I just feel like it’s taken a dark turn. If we win, people drink too much and are happy drunk. Because we lost, it turned into anger. I’ve just had so many problems there.”
