Jets’ D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Willie Colon ejected after scuffle

The New England Patriots sealed the deal in an ugly and wet 13-10 win against the New York Jets Thursday with an Aqib Talib interception of rookie QB Geno Smith late in the 4th quarter.

As he danced over to the sideline, Jets center Nick Mangold blatantly hurled his body at the back of Talib’s knees for a late hit out of bounds right in front of the Pats’ bench. Then all hell broke loose as the Patriots took exception and the Jets were in complete sore loser mode.

A punch was thrown by D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Willie Colon shoved a referee, resulting in both of them being ejected. Pats head coach Bill Belichick was clearly heated and said something to Mangold after the play. Belichick also screamed at the refs to get both Ferguson and Colon off the field. They apparently thought being ejected was to go have a seat on the bench. They finally complied and took the perp walk into the visitors locker room, with helmets on in case of intentional debris from the Foxborough faithful.

“I thought it was a good tackle,” Mangold said, via ESPNNewYork. “He got heated about it;… I was a little surprised by that, I figured he’d have a little bit more poise, but obviously an intense game, an intense rivalry and tempers flare.”

“It was a cheap shot,” guard Logan Mankins said of Mangold’s hit. “He chose the wrong sideline to do that. We were standing up for our guy.”
