Goodson returns to Jets, leaves with a suspension

New York Jets running back Mike Goodson made his triumphant return to the team after being placed on the active non-football injury/illness list for an undisclosed matter before camp began.

Goodson, arrested back in May when he had a gun and marijuana in his possession, came back just in time to receive the news that he’s been slapped with a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy and program for substances of abuse, reports Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.

He stands to lose around $235,000 in base salary while he’s out and can return for week 5 against the Tennessee Titans.

And of course, there’s still the matter of his arrest to get ironed out:

Per Cimini: ‘Goodson’s criminal case has yet to be adjudicated. In June, it was sent to a grand jury in Morris County, New Jersey.

At the time of the arrest, he was so intoxicated that he was taken to a nearby hospital, according to police reports. He was the passenger in a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of Interstate 80 in New Jersey. Police say he was incoherent and had vomited on himself. ‘
