Assistant women’s basketball coach resigns after admitting to relationship with student

Ali MannBowling Green confirmed that first-year assistant coach Ali Mann resigned last Thursday after the school starting looking into an alleged relationship with her and another student.

So far, the student she had the relationship remains anonymous. Mann has since admitted the relationship.

“This is a really sensitive topic; very emotional, not only for those involved, but for everybody involved with the program,” AD Greg Christopher told the Sentinel-Tribune, via the Associated Press. “The decision to delay laying out the timeline, was based completely on the welfare of the team. If we had done everything on Friday (Feb. 22) when we announced that Ali had resigned, I believe that real damage would have been done to the team.”

Mann was a former player at the school and was captain for the Falcons when they reached the final 16 in 2007. She still ranks second on the school’s all-time scoring list.
